A lot of people people tell me they don’t have time for Exercise, Family, Hobbies, etc. In my leadership workshops I explain that time is only a matter of Values. We always find time for what you Value the most, if you don’t have time for someone or something, you don’t value it enough. Excuses like lack of time, lack of knowledge, lack of resources or lack of anything is given only when you don’t value something enough, Period!
On the other hand, if you do value it, you will find the time, you will work hard for it, you will find ways to make it happen even when no-one supports you. That’s how powerful our values are. All our priorities, things we give importance to, people we are serious can be summarized in one word: Values.
People who live their life consciously as per their values have a clear sense of direction and are inspired to achieve their values. But most people are living unconscious of what they truly value. Thus they get carried away by whatever feels good or looks good, not realizing that what feels good may not necessary be important for their life.
Like eating junk food may feel good but may not be important, watching TV may feel good but may not be valuable for your life, being casual and missing your commitments may feel good but is not valuable for your life.
Ask yourself, do you live your life consciously as per your chosen Values or are you living life based on what feels good most of the time?
Here are some question to help you live your life consciously by choosing your Values:
- What are the 7 most valuable things/people in my life?
- Am I living everyday as per these values, am I giving them justice?
- What are the things that I waste time with just because they feel good?
- Am I ready to live my life consciously as per my highest values with a clear sense of purpose?
- If yes will I start everyday of my life, reading my highest values and scheduling to prioritize my time as per them?
- If not am I ready to pay the cost of living life reactively rather than proactively?
Questions like these can awaken the sleeping leader within us, so please take the time to answer the above questions. Live with a conscious choice of what’s most valuable to you with a clear sense of purpose and direction in your life.
By the way thank you for reading this blog, it mean you truly value learning and growing in your life. Superb! Until next week, challenge yourself to live a life of Values rather than what feels good.
